Our very popular “The Makeup Girl” in our beauty blog network has a new writer on it’s rooster, the getting to be very popular Josi…. we just had to know how she landed that gig and what made her get into blogging… read on!

1. What made you start your blog?

I actually found Lianne through Myspace…I loved her stuff. I started emailing her with questions …and then on the luckiest of days I read on her blog that she was on the lookout for a new writer…….I had started my own little “blog” on Myspace actually because I am a total obsessive and just wanted to get my beauty thoughts out there…(and out of my head)…I realized that blogging was something that came natural for me…..

2. WHY do you blog?

Well for product of course…I gotta keep it real…but also because over these last 13yrs I have learned a lot that I want to share with others…..esp. those that are “afraid” of makeup..the readers that used to come into the makeup counters and you could just smell their fear the poor things….

I realized from the get-go that makeup can be VERY intimidating for some women…so I love being able to talk to them on a “friend to friend” basis…..and watch their confidence grow….

..I also want to share what works “on the cheap”…thats why I love doing Drugstore Diva so much…..I would hate it when I worked the counters and they wanted me to for instance, sell treatment to people I know would be better of in a dermatologists office, or be SO persuasive that the poor dears had “buyers remorse”….

Plus now that I am finally out of the mall and working on my makeup artistry portfolio I need a way to “stay in the loop”..and I gotta say..ya’ll know your s*&#!

3. What is your all time fav product?

OMG this is a hard one………..let me think for a minute…I hate to be boring but I would have to say Retin-A……I have used it since I was 15 and it has really saved my skin….


.AND I will never forget this day…I served coffee (yeah, I did a stint @ Starbucks for the health insurance…latest 6 months…) and I had some plastic surgeons that were daily customers….so I asked them HANDS DOWN…what product/treatment was the best defense against wrinkles and they said Retin-A for sure…they were like “use it everywhere….even get as close to the eye as your skin will tolerate”..crazy, no?

4. What is the coolest thing that’s happened to you because of your blog?

Definitely going to Fashion in the Park here in Dallas…..in addition to gaining Lianne as a friend and entering a world where there are others that are as NUTSO about makeup/beauty as I am!!!.
