Saturday So off to the first serious day of the summit. After being treated to breakfast, and a welcome from Emrah Kovacoglu, the CEO of200805200737 total beauty, we got the most amazing surprise welcome from Frederic Fekkai. No not in person. And yes, he wanted to be there but we were so treated to an amazing hello video that he taped just for us.  Seriously, it was as if he was in the same room with us… how cool was that.We heard from :SensaCreated by Dr. Hirsch, a new weight loss tool that will make you eat less. Sprinkles that look like sugar sprinkled on your food and you’ll eat less on your plate.  We got the premiere first ever exclusive. Yep, I have it.Then the founder of Raw Natural Minerals.200805200736Seriously, this mineral makeup looks so gorgeous, it makes Bare Escentuals look like high school.  I wish they had spent more time showing the informing us about the product rather than the whole concept of it’s natural ingredients and concept, but I was lucky to get their product in my goodie bag. Can’t wait to try. Truly beautiful. Then a panel discussion on “When your blog becomes your Career” featuring Tia Williams (Shake Your Beauty), Nadine Haobsh (Jolie Nadine), Anne Fritz (JetSetGirls) and Annie Tomlin ( PopSugar/BellaSugar.) Moderated by Kirsten Lamberton of BeautyRiot.  The discussion of how their blog made them popular and expanded their careers to book deals, tv show appearances, commercials, etc. pretty much just came down to luck. Being in the right place at the right time.  And getting offers from others because of their blog. Keep blogging!Next a discussion on “Get Your Blog Noticed.”  Russ Smith, a SEO specialist was on the panel along with Christina Jones of ebeautydaily, Teri Consenzi of Splendicity and Andy Cheatwood of Total Beauty. Discussions of search engines and spiders and how best to title and name your blog posts to my favorite part: Russ explaining that spiders and search engines are stupid and really don’t search like we do. They just look at the words. While we tend to write how we talk, the search engines don’t search like that. They look at the relevance of words, and leave it at that.  And that to title your posts with facts, not thoughts.. like “The Total Beauty Blog Summit” rather than “I loved being at the summit.” No one would search for the 2nd sentence. Also interesting was his thoughts on PR and how not to give it importance, but when Teri mentioned that PR is closely looked at by public relations and advertising businesses, he was surprised to hear it. But we knew that all along….Then a look at the upcoming 3 top makeup trends for this fall. The nude face, the red lip and that dark eye, with a peek at the RedPoint makeup line.200805200742Fatima Olive is their Spokesperson and what a treat. Fatima and I used to work together at Aveda years ago… Thrilled to see her doing what she does best! And yes, Redpoint in my goodie bag, so review coming soon! But the highlight of the day?The extreme makeover. Seriously.  Two lucky members were chosen and let me tell you. The transformation was truly an Oprah moment.  Nancy from Beauty411 went from a severe bob to short, chic and amazing. She literally looked 20 years younger. My mouth gaped open when I saw her. And Alison of theadvicesisters was the other lucky recipient. Her hair went from lifeless and dry to an amazing redhead.  They both looked so chic and modern.. it was amazing. Thanks to Dusty Simington of Gregories Salon, who is also a major NAHA award winner.200805200744200805200746Again, the past catches up with the present, as I did a shoot with Dusty so many years ago on Tiffany Amber Thiessen.  Small world isn’t it?The day closed with a presentation from the product developer of the Lisa Hoffman (yes, Dustin Hoffman’s wife)200805200746-1200805200746-2on her skincare line and how it was developed and packaged to compete in the crazy competitive beauty industry today. I love her single packette idea of single dosages of skincare that you can take with you on travels without lugging the whole skincare system around. Small, precise and very convenient.200805200747But what really intrigued me what the 4 perfumes, marketed to be worn during the 4 times of the day. Four? The Variations fragrance is meant for morning, daytime, evening and sleep.
