Stylebell offers great tips you can use before you get that hair cut. I especially like #1..who knew? Elke

rodney cutler cutler salonStylist, Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon, shares several tips that will ensure you get the perfect haircut the next time you enter a salon. Read and learn I know we all have made mistakes when going to a salon.

  1. Style your hair before going to the salon. When you arrive at the salon, we want to see your hair the way you normally style it. We want to see your abilities, so that when we design a hair style, you can actually do it yourself. You don’t want to get a haircut and then get home and you can’t manage it.
  2. You should never do a consultation with wet hair. The consultation is the most important thing and it’s when the biggest mistakes happen. We want to see your hair when it’s dry, what the texture feels like, if there are any colics or other qualities we might not detect when the hair is wet.
  3. Show your stylist photos of hairstyles you like. It’s not about trying to look like a celebrity, but about saying “This is what I like,” so everyone’s on the same page.

Advise No.1 is a terrible one. ‘cos ordinary woman can style her hair 2 to 3 ways. It’s MAXIMUM!
If someone who wants something that doesn’t bore her and “Rodney Cutler of Cutler Salon” will give her just the same that she doesn’t want to see anymore… Don’t know. I wouldn’t go to him.
    Or he’s not a stylist. He’s a hairdresser.

I totally disagree. I think it’s brilliant. Because if I come in with a simple style, the last thing I want is a complicated cut and style that I neither have the time or the want to do. Give me something I can do the other 60 days I’m going to do it myself and I’ll come back to you as a stylist. Give me a overdone cut/style I can’t do or be bothered with and I’m not coming back. I think it’s brilliant. It’s the same in makeup. I want to see what you’re comfortable with wearing and doing, because unless you do your makeup like a hooker, I”m certainly not going to make you look like one. I know you’ll be happiest with a look you are comfortable with and can do.
